A Mile In Your Shoes

When I was growing up, the misfortune of other people was humorous to me. I know that is not Good Christian behavior, yet I never stated that I am/was perfect. I remember laughing at someone in front of my parents. They were upset at me and embarrassed at my behavior. I was then told, “Before you judge a man, try to walk a mile in their shoes”. I was then told stories of people that my parents knew that were in similar situations and the stories that resulted in tragedy. Wow! I felt really terrible about what I have done and had compassion for those people. Can you imagine walking in the shoes of Christians being persecuted because of their praise to God? Could you imagine being in a place with no clean water? No matter your circumstance, there is a person in the world that have it worse then you. Would you trade places with them? What if God asked you before you were born to trade places with them, would you have done it? What if He told you all of the injustices that you would have to face, would you trade places? What if He you when and how you would die…would you have traded places? Imagine that you lived in a place that was the most beautiful place ever made and you lived like a King…would you trade places now? That is the power of Love! Think about it. Jesus is a King, yet He decided that he would leave a place that was Holy, beautiful and set apart to come here to Earth. He would leave His throne to become a carpenter in Nazareth. He would labor and work for thirty-three years with a people that did not even understand the basic concepts of faith. He knew no sin (2 Corinthians 5:21) but became sin. He was not a liar, but was treated like one. He was not a murderer, but was treated like one. He was not an adulterous, but was treated like one. Jesus was willingly punished for the things that we do wrong (John 10:17-18). We do not serve a High Priest that does not know what it is like to live here (Hebrews 4:15). Whatever your circumstance or situation, Jesus walked a mile for you so that you may be free from sin, because YOU ARE WORTH IT! Worship in him today, for He is worthy. For there is no greater Love than a man that lay down his life…for you! (John 15:13)
